Confreg command

A command available on most Cisco IOS based platforms; used to display and modify the numerical value of the Configuration Register at the ROM Monitor Mode command line.

confreg - display current configuration register value and prompt to change it's value

confreg 0x2142 - change the value of the configuration register to the specified value: 0x2142 (as normally used for password recovery)

If you modify the configuration register value you will need to reboot in order for the change to take affect, use the reset command
