ARP

From RZWiki

ARP is an acronym for Address Resolution Protocol, in relation to a common method used by a network attached device to discover another host's hardware, layer 2 address using it's network, layer 2 address. Although predominately used in IP networks using Ethernet, ARP can be used with other layer 3 network protocols and layer 2 data link technologies.

We have a quick reference demonstrating a typical ARP exchange and detailing the ARP packet structure, available as a PDF document, here: ARP-Reference.pdf
